"GOALS"

As I paused to think of something that sets some men apart,

It seemed to me that goals in life must be the place to start.

Imagine playing football on an unmarked field of green;

Not a goal line to be sought and not a goal post to be seen.

It would be an aimless battle were there nothing to be gained;

Without a thing to strive for, not a score to be attained.

We must have purpose in our lives, for the flame that warms the soul

Is an everlasting vision, every man must have his goal.

“CHOICES”

Soft in the silence, I heard a voice.

It uttered quite clearly, “Each day gives a choice.”

A choice to be happy, a choice to be sad,

A choice to forgive, or to walk away mad.

The challenge for me is to waken each day

And make the wise choices  that light up the way.

For our measure of happiness always is swayed

By the wisdom displayed in the choices we’ve made..

"THINK AND WHEN"

I wish I could be the person that I would like to be.

But I think if I’m going to do it, it’s entirely up to me.

And, I think the time to start is not in some distant day

Now is the time to start that change--Now, without delay!!

There’s a word that was used some years ago as a slogan by IBM.

The word was “THINK”. A great reminder, for women and for men.

But “THINK” alone can also be a word that’s like a missing link

For there are those who go through life and all they do is “THINK”.

There’s another word that I believe gives power to the thoughts of men.

It’s a modest word with only four letters--that powerful word is “WHEN”!!

For when we put a timetable on the things we want to do,

Those things begin to happen, and that’s how dreams come true!

"Global Warming"

Gore says Global Warming is bringing lots of pain.

It’s dry as hell in Georgia, in Texas--too much rain.

The Arctic ice is dripping in balmy springlike breeze,

While the South Pole’s ice gets thicker in record breaking freeze.

Any weather you can mention, whether winter, spring or fall;

Cold or warm, wet or dry, Global Warming causes all.

I wonder what the natives said many hundred years ago.

Greenland then was really green and Alaska needed snow.

There were no cars, and no Al Gore was there to give a warning.

But there was one thing that’s just the same, there was Big-Time Global Warming!
